fazana, croatia:

Fazana is a sweet little fishing village not far from the larger town of Pula. We stopped by for a quick walk around and a visit to a beach nearby. We loved the tiny feel of the place, which was much quieter than both Rovinj and Pula, and definitely worth the little stop-off.

next: Green Istria - the inland region of the area.

rovinj, croatia - part one:

After picking up our car early in the morning, we departed Zagreb and head north-east to the region of Istria.
It was so hard deciding where we would base ourselves on the Croatian coast, with so many stunning options, but we opted for Istria as it's a smaller area that packs a lot of punch and is a little bit quieter than the well known southern areas like Dubrovnik and Split.
The sweet little town of Rovinj was our home for the week, and from there we took day trips further afield, exploring the region's coast and interior.
Istria has a really fascinating history, once being part of the Austro-Hungarian empire and than part of Italy, whose influences were still visible. We spent the afternoon meandering around, browsing cute little stores, getting fresh supplies for our apartment, before cooling off with a quick swim in the Adriatic Sea.
It was the perfect start for our European seaside getaway!

next: more from Rovinj.
